2005 Accomplishments

Rural Quality Coalition 2005 Organizational Accomplishments RQC adopted positions, made recommendations to government bodies, attended city and county government meetings and provided RQC viewpoint on planning issues. RQC developed a foundation of stated planning principles and values, in expanding detail, to be applied to the emerging development issues - particularly the SDA's. Reviewed and Adopted "Good Planning Principles Supported by the Organizations for Rural Quality." Reviewed and Accepted "Adopted Principles for Good Growth in Western Nevada County." These principles were also adopted by other organizations, including:
Sierra Foothills Audubon Society Citizens Concerned About Traffic General Plan Defense Fund Grass Valley Neighbors Loma Rica Ranch Preservation Committee Rural Quality Coalition Sierra Nevada Group of the Sierra Club
Analysed, and provided review and comments to Grass Valley City Council on the content and details of the City's SDA Fiscal and Economic Study, in progress during 2005. Drafted, Reviewed, and Adopted "Recommendations for Significant Projects."
Secured official non-profit, 501(c)(3) status for Rural Quality Foundation, which is to focus on education and information about conserving and enhancing a vigorous and sustainable balance between people, the economy and natural resources.
